The BIAS Committee

As ever, BIAS is looking for people to join the Committee. All that is required is that you are a BIAS member, and have a desire to act in Bees supporters' interests.

We draw strength from being a democratic and independent association, but can only be effective if fans get involved. Contact Phil if you are interested.

CHAIR

COMMITTEE MEMBER

Phil Marchant (Chair)

Residence Brentford
Occupation Local Government
Where can you be found on matchdays? The Griffin or The Nelson prior to standing on the Brook Road
What do you see as BIAS's role? Independent association seeking the best for BFC and its supporters. This involves monitoring the Club (and Bees United) to ensure they are giving a good service to the fans. We can campaign in the interests of the fans. BU are to be congratulated for their takeover of the Club, as I feel that supporter ownership is the best way forward for BFC. However survival is still a huge struggle, and we need to play our part in ensuring that BU are doing the best job possible.
What's the best thing about being a Brentford fan? Knowing lots of people who like a beer. And the spirit around the Club is generally an excellent one, despite all our problems.
What's the worst thing about being a Brentford fan? No money, ongoing problems, having to work hard just to exist.
Where do you see Brentford FC in ten years time? Lower end of the Championship or top end of League one, in a new stadium at Lionel Road (keep the faith!), having come through the bad times thanks to the skill and sheer determination of the supporters.

Mark Atkinson (Finance Officer)

Residence Ealing
Occupation Logistics Procurement Manager
Where can you be found on matchdays? New Road with my 9yr daughter
What do you see as BIAS's role? With BU (touch wood) taking over the club in Jan I see BIAS's role developing both to support BU but also to provide a voice to fans who may wish to challenge what BU do going forward
What's the best thing about being a Brentford fan? The last 15 mins against Southampton and Sheffield Weds last season showed the country what it meant to really support a club, even when we were losing. Made you proud to be there
What's the worst thing about being a Brentford fan? Being 1 up with 5 mins to go and trying to keep the faith; the shrug of the shoulders when the board screw up yet again with people thinking "well it's Brentford innit...". It doesn't have to be and hopefully won't be
Where do you see Brentford FC in ten years time? On the plane to Tokyo for the World Club Championships. But then I woke up and I was still at Griffin Park with the renovations done, the toilets fixed, decent burgers and BU into their 10th year in charge of a successful Championship team

Tony Cross (Secretary)

Residence Cricklewood
Occupation Business Development Manager
Where can you be found on matchdays? Brook Road Upper
What do you see as BIAS's role? Campaigning on behalf of Brentford supporters to make sure their views are heard by the club, Bees United and whoever else needs to hear them
What's the best thing about being a Brentford fan? Friends, winning games - especially away - and being able to take the moral high ground over sofa supporters
What's the worst thing about being a Brentford fan? The £8m of debt
Where do you see Brentford FC in ten years time? In the Championship, in a new ground and free of debt. I can dream!

Richard Merritt

Residence Middlesex
Occupation Team Leader / Regional Supervisor
Where can you be found on matchdays? In the Paddock
What do you see as BIAS's role? To be a voice for Brentford fans, to listen to their concerns, to serve its membership, to grasp the general consensus, to unify - and to seek continuous improvement
What's the best thing about being a Brentford fan? Wishing your life away for Saturday to come, feeling on top of the world, getting goose bumps on a summer's day just by silently humming The Great Escape
What's the worst thing about being a Brentford fan? No money, ongoing problems, having to work hard just to exist
Where do you see Brentford FC in ten years time? Champions League (I'm having a laugh!)
