Brentford produced a poor performance as they lost 3-0 at Exeter City. It was very disappointing for the 575 Bees fans that travelled the long way.
Brentford fell behind after seven minutes when they failed to clear a corner and with only Carl Cort applying any pressure on Berti Cozic his shot was deflected past the helpless Lewis Price.
Brentford attempted to equalise but fell two behind in final seconds of the half. Mark Phillips, who was carrying a knock, lost the ball to Fleetwood and in an attempt to rescue the situation brought him down and was deservedly booked. The resulting free-kick deflected off Cleveland Taylor and Steve Tully fired home off the underside of the bar.
Brentford attempted to change things around in the second half with Karleigh Osborne and Sam Saunders coming on for Mark Phillips and Cleveland Taylor.
Despite Brentford’s best efforts they found themselves 3-0 down after another corner was poorly cleared and Craig Noone fired past the helpless Price.
Following the goal Exeter were reduced to ten men as Marcus Stewart was sent off. Despite that Brentford failed to grab a consolation and went back to West London very disappointed.
