The last two times Brentford FC have started a league campaign with an away trip to Bury they finished season as Champions, pre match expectations were high but familiar failings meant that the bees left Gigg Lane with one point and not the three that the team probably deserved.
Overall Brentford were the much better side, playing neat, composed football, but playing a 5-3-1-1 formation against what was a poor Bury side meant that we lacked bite up front and for all our possession and pretty football we did not create the chances required to win the game and to return South with all three points.
Forshaw was outstanding in midfield and when he was subbed, possibly due to having cramp, the Bees lost their way a little. Farid looked lively but did little to impress apart from one header which went over the bar.
The Bees need to be more positive, at the end of the day this was two points lost rather than a point gained.
The rumor on the away end was that were about to sign Paul Hayes from Charlton and that the striker would be available for Tuesdays home game against Yeovil.
