The Lionel Road Liaison Group Meetings have been reconvened and BIAS are invited attendees to the series of meetings.
The meeting started with introductions of the attendees before Brian Burgess gave the audience of local residents and hopefully new neighbours, an overview of Brentford Football Club giving them an update to all of the changes that had been made since the last meeting which was held when Barratt’s were still in the picture.
Should Brentford Fc win promotion this tear and maintain Championship football under the rules we should be playing within all seater stadium by the 2016-17 season and the Club therefore has set a target of completing the new stadium by July 2016 in time for the 2016-17 season.
To achieve this aim the Club have appointed a professional team of advisors including planning consultants (Planning Perspectives) master-planners (Faulkner Browns), stadium architects (AFL), transport consultants (WSP), and public affairs advisors (Four Communications).
This team is taking a fresh look at the project to assess the feasibility of various options for delivering a financially viable scheme and they have been asked to complete the initial feasibility study by the end of October and to recommend a scheme for which a planning application could be submitted by May 2013.
The Local residents understandably had concerns about parking and traffic congestion. The attendees were asked what they would like on the site and it was suggested by the BIAS that a Bus Station could be advantageous as on match days the bus routes which currently terminate at Brentford County Court or Commercial Road in Brentford could be extended/ redirected to the stadium.
