Brian Burgess has advised BIAS that in principle Brentford FC supports the concept of safe standing and would like to consider safe standing in the design of its new stadium.
Brian and Mark Devlin (Brentford FC CEO) have been considering safe standing over the past few weeks while discussing the requirements for the new stadium and Brian has relayed that they are both keen to support the idea of safe standing.
As part of the current feasibility studies they have asked their consultants to look into the practical implications of providing safe standing and they will consider it further as the design develops.
BIAS welcomes this positive news as when polled earlier almost 92% Brentford fans answered that the ‘home end’ should be designed with safe standing being considered, and 70.8% stated that they would like Lionel Road designed so that safe standing down could be incorporated on one side of the pitch, i.e; in a lower tier such as the Paddock.
The Football Supporters Federation are campaigning really hard for safe standing to be trialled at Premiership and Championship clubs. Please spare a few minutes to play your part in the FSF's Safe Standing Campaign .
