We are disappointed by the Club’s statement today (Friday) surrounding the attendance of the Home Secretary at the Gtech Community Stadium on Thursday. It failed to address the damage and hurt that a large group of fans have felt by the visit.
Any politician’s visit to our stadium should be carefully considered. Such visits can be seen to conflict with the Club’s aims to be politically neutral and inclusive.
The Club leads with the #BEETOGETHER tagline. But it is yet another case of talking the talk but not following through on their actions.
To make it clear, BIAS do not align to any political party in any way, shape, or form. We hope fans of all ages and gender can watch Brentford matches without political discourse surrounding it.
It was thoughtless and naïve to think that the Home Secretary would stick to the intended core topics of the day with print and broadcast media invited.
BIAS contacted officials from the club on Thursday evening for their response, and like today’s statement, it was not good enough. We expect better.
