Along with supporters’ trust Bees United, BIAS held a meeting on fan behaviour last night (29 March 2023) with representatives of the football club.
All parties discussed a letter sent recently by the club to 18 fans who have Season Tickets close together in block N122. The letter contained allegations of persistent standing plus foul and abusive language. Club representatives accepted that the letters were badly worded and had wrongly conflated both issues.
The club has received reports of foul and abusive language in the area where the 18 have had season tickets since August 2021. But, after investigation, they have not found any evidence to attribute it to specific individuals. We understand the club will now send out a clarification letter to those involved.
During the meeting, BIAS and Bees United agreed to be part of a new working group to develop and finalise processes and procedures around club policies on fan sanctions and banning. The working group will report to the new Fans’ Advisory Board for ratification.
Any communication to fans which contain allegations of poor behaviour should be proportionate, have evidence, and in line with the club’s customer charter. We will work in future with the club and Bees United to create transparent and fair processes.
